Primary Purpose
The Road Maintenance Worker is responsible for carrying out general maintenance, cleaning, and road closure duties, as well as assisting electrical and mechanical trades as directed.
The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and may also receive instructions from the Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager, and Tunnel Controllers, particularly where work impacts tunnel operations or in response to incidents.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain the integrity of all tunnel and ancillary drainage systems
- Refill chemical tanks in the depressurisation dosing room
- Operate decanting pumps and refill fire traps as required
- Perform general cleaning across tunnel facilities
- Carry out painting and minor maintenance works
- Undertake minor maintenance on SHT vehicles
- Implement road closures for planned shutdowns and emergencies
- Replace air conditioning filters as required
- Operate equipment including tunnel wall washer, road sweeper, scissor lift, and attenuator truck
- Perform road surface and civil maintenance tasks
- Transfer waste, contaminated liquids, and sludge
- Conduct tunnel and infrastructure patrols
- Maintain records and complete reports as directed
- Provide general transport and courier support

Requirements
- Experience in general maintenance of plant, equipment, and infrastructure
- Must be able to work rotating 5 week roster - 16 x 12 hour shifts, mixture of days and nights (including weekends)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Ability to learn systems such as Maximo and TeamBinder
- MR Licence, Working at Heights and EWP certification essential
- Vehicle Loading Crane (VLC) licence and experience essential
Skills & Experience
- Confident working in live traffic environments
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and safe work practices
- Emergency response training (desirable)
- Current First Aid and CPR (desirable)
